Two days it stood motionless, silent. Aircraft were sent to surveil the summit but returned with no answers. Communication attempts failed. Troops were readied as gnawing fear gripped the nation. What was this thing? Where did it come from?

Then it began...

I am nothing of the sort; certainly not one to be bowed to. I am a fellow painter with you.

You've really gotten the hang of the 'feel' of watercolor and showing atmosphere. Me likes!

Thank you. I really like how this one came out. I didn't have watercolor in mind when I did it, but I like the grainy, painted feel.

I stepped out of it, didn't I?

:D

I keep getting poked to join the speedpainters. But lack of time and tablet discourages me...

Stepped out of it?

You could do a speed paint traditionally and scan it in. It's just as good (maybe even better). Break out those brushes! :D

You assume that I have those kinds of art supplies in my itty-bitty dorm room.

You can pick up a small, cheap set of acrylics or water colors from walmart even. Remember that you're not doing finished pieces, just quickies.

:D No more excuses now.

I want to see something in your style. Don't try to copy any other. Let your mind spill out onto the paper (metaphorically, of course).

So speedpainting was a fail... but I'm getting better with sketching and doing random stuff with on on photoshop. Does that count?

Sketching is good. I'd just like to see you pursue something.

Did you use the google translator?

Yes, but what it gave me didn't seem entirely correct either. I used my limited knowledge of French to try to make it better but I might have just made it worse.

Nah, It was closer to an hour. Yours was not bad. Just remember that I've done over a hundred of these and I'm still learning things with almost every painting I do.

I haven't seen much of what GIMP can do. I like the texture and the grain of this piece, along with the expressive colors.

Thank you. I've found the Gimp to be quite up to the task for my paintings. It's missing a few things I'd like to see, but overall I'd give it a thumbs up. Everything in my gallery has been done in the Gimp.
